IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU IT'S INEFFECTIVE

A message about self-confidence, and making the change in your life to start trusting your abilities more.

This can relate to anything in life, but I realised it through going to the gym, and occasions inside my workplace.

What Would I Do Before?

I would do an exercise inside the gym that felt good and gave me good results. I would then stop performing that exercise, because I was influenced by a YouTube video that said it was useless and without question, I just believed that person telling me it.

Instead of being confident in my own understanding that the exercise was actually effective for my growth, I cut it off.

The lack of self-confidence and stupidly disregarding something that was very clearly working, took me off the correct path and had me blindly following another person, because I put more value on their opinion than mine. Even with the years of experience I had under my belt, I daftly just believed everything I saw on the internet, rather than objectively looking at my progress.

Same thing would happen in work. I’d be confident that we’d need to solve a problem using a certain technique but would allow others to overrule my decision and do it their way. I wouldn’t interfere because I was lacking that confidence in my own ability to speak up and give my opinion on the matter.

For all you know, you could be on the verge of discovering something new or brining something new to the table within your industry, but that shyness,  and lack of confidence, results in your voice not being heard, again.

You need to start listening and believing in yourself to fully grow and develop as a person.

What Approach Can I Take, if I'm In The Same Boat as You Were?

Educate yourself so much that you wouldn’t even consider doubting your knowledge again.

Contribute ideas, be assertive to others and with yourself. Have the belief that what you are doing is right and say it with conviction. If you're still nervous about ridicule after sharing ideas, complete work in private. Ask someone trusted to review it for you, before making it public. Unfortunately some people around you may be there to trip you up.

Work on your discernment. Learn to judge whether someone wants you to change, to actually benefit you, or because it benefits them.

There are plenty of brilliant creators on the internet, who you can learn loads from. Find out who they are and sieve out the rest.

Cut out the poison you see on social media about how you MUST wake up at 3am to be successful, or how you have to eat Peruvian blueberries, underneath a bridge, at midnight, to activate an extra 3% of your brain. If you don't, then you and the rest of your bloodline are doomed to fail for an eternity.....

A lot of this stuff possibly has some beneficiary value, but if you are able to wake up at 9am and get a solid 8-9hrs of high-quality work in that day, in the form of reading, studying, creating, working out etc, please don’t try and change your routine or feel like you’re missing out on something, because you’re not following a stranger on the internets’ advice.

Chances are they’re probably trying to sell you something anyway.

It will start with waking up early, then it will progress onto them trying to sell you a product, which is magically the only thing in the world that can solve a problem you have. Funny that, isn't it?

Now, that doesn't mean every influencer online is a bandit, but be careful.

Attempt and learn through experience. The most important part is the self-belief that you’re doing things right. It’s finding that confidence to take the risk of believing yourself that’s key.

Become so good you will never doubt yourself again. Practice over and over until you can do the task with your eyes closed. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Only change up your routine, way of learning, diet etc when YOU feel that it is not working anymore, not when someone else tells you you’d benefit better by doing it their way, which is the ONLY way of achieving success.

Some people unfortunately will go out their way to make you stumble and fall.

Take this on board and be firm in your belief that you know what your doing, then act out confidently and watch your progress skyrocket.
